Just Try Not to Dance
This has got to be the COOLEST video I have seen in a long time. Now, I have a huge urge to go home and watch all these movies for the umpteenth time!

My mind was hard at work this past weekend. I spent hours Saturday at #BlogathonATX (and had a blast) brainstorming ideas alone and with others for blog topics, blog content, blog promotion, etc. The rest of my weekend I was overloading my frontal lobe with thoughts and ideas of planning a Round the World backpacking trip with my boyfriend, Jared. A life-long dream we both have had but never fully conceptualized - until this weekend. Now, we are both committed to the idea and our trip is coming to life, albeit now in the very fetal stages of saving, planning, researching, and did I say saving?
Well with all the extra activity in my brain during what was originally planned to be a relaxing "thinking-free" weekend, the idea of starting up a blog chronicling our Round the World trip and all stages of the planning process came to be. I am in love the idea and excited to begin this journey - I truly believe the next year or so before we even officially leave the counrty will be a whole journey in and of itself. And once we are abroad? Are you kidding...the stories and experiences the world has to offer are limitless and so enthralling. I feel like a 5 year old the night before Christmas.
Yet, here is the dilemma...I am hitting a wall with the naming of our travel blog. For the life of me I cannot create a name that really woos me and embodies the idea, passion, and livelihood Jared and I have for this project. So I am asking for suggestions, ideas, help...if you can think of a quirky catchphrase or help me brainstorm it would be much appreciated. I always work better with a bouncing board of ideas...so bounce away!
I signed up over a month ago and have been excited, yet nervous and this is why it took me so long to submit my "About Me" post to the official #BlogathonATX's posterous...But I did today. So go read it and read the posts of the other attendees...there's some very interesting and humorous folks blogging in Austin these days. I certainly look forward to spending the day with them Saturday!
These deals are just too good to be true...I had to share!
Today ONLY, the Hyatt Regency Austin is running a special via their social media outlets. The special is valid for stays this Thursday, Friday, and/or Saturday night, with rates as low as $99!
On top of that, restaurant.com (where you can find both Hyatt's Southwest Bistro and Marker 10) is offering an additional 80% off gift certicates when you use the code BIG at checkout. That means, a $25 gift certificate that you normally purchase for $10 on restaurant.com is now only $2. That's insane!
So call the babysitter, book your room, buy the gift certificates, and plan yourself one last hoorah for the summer before these deals run out!
All you hipsters and tech geeks out there will be happy to know that SXSW 2011 badges are on sale. I, personally, am starting a little fund to get me to SXSW 2011. If you wish to donate to this fund, I'm sure we can work something out!
If you're like me and the prices are little steep for you, but you badly want to go (and do not want to succomb to prostitution) - consider volunteering. Information on volunteer needs will be out soon I'm sure.
For now, I say focus on what's at hand - ACL! Do you have your tickets? It's sold out...so start checking Craigslist!
Happy festival-ing all you Austinites...Hope to see you there!
The Paramount Theater is promoting their audience to play hooky today to watch the 1pm screening of Ferris Bueller's Day Off as part of the 2010 Summer Film Series.
I say go for it! Who doesn't love watching Matthew Broderick outsmart the ups and downs of adolescent life, high school, and the streets of Chicago?
Walton's Fancy and Staple upped the ante when they offered to take 10% off any lunch-goer's order if they mention they are playing hooky. Is today Yuppy Skip Day? If so, can we coordinate a choreographed dance down Congress St.? I have always wanted to be part of a dance sequence!
Sorry it has been so long...June and July were filled with weddings and vacations back to back and little catch up time in between.
Once I am able to process it all and sit down, I'm sure you'll see a few posts about "What I did Last Summer". For now, I am excited it's Back to School season! I no longer go to school and I do not have children that go to school; however, back to school season means lots of sales!
Tax Free Weekend is scheduled for August 20 - 22. Mark your calendars! And be sure to keep an eye on all your favorite stores...my inbox has been bombarded daily with sales on top of sales from Kohl's, Target, Best Buy, Express, and more!
To me, "Back to School" season is "Sale Season"!
Happy Shopping!
Today has got to be one of my favorite useless holidays. Today, June 4, is National Donut Day.
I heard of many people finding different ways to celebrate. Apparently over 80,000 people RSVP'd to the facebook event created in its honor. I also heard that Krispy Kreme was giving away free donuts nationwide and Dunkin Donuts was giving away a free donut with every drink purchase.
I, personally, took a more local approach and headed over to Gourdough's for a donut-filled happy hour after work. I am ashamed to admit this, but today was my first trip to Gourdough's and "WOW!" They give the term donut a whole new meaning...some menu options that stood out included:
FLYING PIG: a doughnut topped with bacon and maple syrup
SLOW BURN: a doughnut topped with habenero pepper jelly and cream cheese topping
SARA'S JOY: a doughnut with coconut flavored filling topped with fresh coconut and fudge icing
Of course you can see the full menu at gourdoughs.com
I confess I actaully ate 2 donuts today (feel free to insert your fat jokes or gasps of awe here). I had the MISS SHORTCAKE: a doughnut topped with cream cheese icing and fresh cut strawberries (think strawberry shortcake meets funnel cake in donut form or simply put...delicious!). My second donut was free due to Gourdough's promotion in honor of National Donut Day "Buy at least 2 donuts get a NAUGHTY & NICE free".
Both donuts were amazing pastry masterpieces that I thoroughly savored, though now I feel slightly guilty and am considering an extra workout for the weekend to compensate for my indulgence...Was it worth it you ask? Oh YES!
Hello! I feel as though my very first post to posterous should explain a little about me and what exactly makes me "Sassy Sarah".
First off, I will state the obvious: my name is Sarah. I am 25 years old and live in Austin, TX. I grew up in Chicago but moved to Austin about 8 years ago to attend the University of Texas.
"Sassy" bears a few different definitions most of which I feel I embody...lively, spirited, stylish, chic, saucy, etc.
Here's some other random facts about me:
5 Things I Love: cheesecake, traveling, writing, Chicago Cubs, cooking
5 Unique Facts about Me: I am terrified of birds, I lived in South Korea for 2 years, I have been to 6 of the 7 continents (I'll get to Antartica one day!), I have known my best friend since age 2, I cannot rollerblade - I will fall on my face.
5 Things That Irritate Me: wet dog smell, sauerkraut - even the word sounds gross, rudeness, incorrect times on clocks, those unwilling to compromise
Well, that's enough for now...I will be posting regularly about a variety of topics. Look for posts about Austin, 20s something life, living green, living cheap, social media, current events, anything and everything I am passionate about and find interesting...I hope you do too!
